Finally we have it! Our yerba mate has seen the light of day! Meet the six Rio Parana variants, following the taste and tradition of Argentine yerba mate.
In tribute to Argentina’s rich yerba mate tradition
Our Rio Parana yerba mate is best described by two words – tradition and simplicity. Tradition, because it originated from the Argentine traditions of growing, processing and drinking yerba mate, passed down from generation to generation. Simplicity, because that is exactly what Rio Parana yerba mate is – uncomplicated, healthy and good, without fancy ingredients, produced on a small scale, minimalist. Despite this simplicity, like the Paraná River flowing through South America, it hides unexplored depths – a wealth of flavour and aroma.
Yerba mate Rio Parana is made in Misiones, an Argentine province located on the border of three countries. It was here that the modern history of yerba mate began, and where the largest brands of „Paraguayan tea”, which are still known and appreciated worldwide, were created. The terrain located in the inter-coastal area between the Paraná and Uruguay rivers – a humid, subtropical climate, abundant rains, high air temperatures and fertile soil – creates the perfect conditions for the cultivation of Ilex paraguariensis. The holly leaves ripen naturally on the plantation. No harmful pesticides or artificial fertilisers are used in their development. Once ripe, they are harvested by hand and then processed using the traditional Argentine method – they are dried at high temperatures using smoke. The dried and milled leaves are aged for 9 to 24 months, gaining strength and a unique character. The packet arrives with a medium-cut dried product, with twigs and a small amount of dust. Aromatic, stimulating, with a multidimensional flavour. The essence of the best of Argentine yerba mate!
The power of simplicity. Rio Parana’s premiere flavours
The natural qualities of Ilex paraguariensis are at the forefront of our brand’s products. The ingredients of the flavour compositions in the form of herbs, fruits or aromas are only additives that aim to emphasise, and not drown out, the taste and aroma of yerba mate. Each of Rio Parana’s variants embodies the two most important elements guiding our founding principles – simplicity and tradition. To begin, we encourage you to try our six premiere variations:
Rio Parana Elaborada con Palo – this is our most classic offering, which is traditionally produced yerba mate with no additives. The packet contains smoke-dried, medium-cut leaves and twigs with a pale green colour and a little aromatic dust. When combined with water, mate tea creates a rather intense yet mild-tasting brew that reveals its secrets with every sip.
Rio Parana Despalada sin Palo – this is also a classic offering, without any additives, but in this case the dry product consists almost exclusively of coarsely cut leaves. The stick and dust content is a maximum of 5%. It is an excellent stimulant and works well for drinking through less thoroughly filtering bombillas.
Rio Parana Energia – yerba mate itself provides a solid dose of energy, thanks to the caffeine it contains. In the case of this variant, the stimulating potential has been further increased by the addition of guarana. Its slightly acidic flavour, combined with lemongrass, perfectly accentuates the bitterness of yerba mate, while the sour-bitter notes are broken by the aroma of sweet raspberry.
Rio Parana Silueta – this is one of our richest offerings in terms of composition, although it still features maximum simplicity. The delicately tart and bitter yerba mate is combined here with a bouquet of aromatic herbs: lemongrass, cistus, peppermint and boldo. An original addition are the characteristically curled gunpowder green tea leaves.
Rio Parana Limon – which is a classic combination of Ilex paraguariensis and lemon flavour. The bitterness of yerba mate is accentuated by sour lemon peel and lemongrass. The composition works perfectly both warm and cold.
Rio Parana Naranja – is a composition of yerba mate with a pleasant fruity tropical note. Argentine yerba mate was combined with orange peel and lemongrass. The result is amazing. Highly recommended!
